Eurofins has extensive experience in the food industry, including the analysis and assurance of food safety of ready-to-eat meals. Our Food Safety Solutions department works for most of the largest retailers in the Netherlands.
New are the so-called challenge tests. A challenge test can be used to assess how one or more types of micro-organisms behave in a product during the shelf life or process step. To this end, the product is deliberately contaminated with a quantity of this micro-organism and monitored over the course of the storage period. In most cases, these tests are used to rule out the possibility that a dangerous situation may arise, because the micro-organism grows into large numbers during storage.
In addition to routine laboratories, Eurofins has a network of specialized laboratories, the so-called Competence Centers, which carry out specialist analyses. In this way, Eurofins' customers have access to a wide range of accredited analyses carried out according to the latest technologies such as vitamins, carbohydrates, GMO and migration tests.
