Manufacturer must give allergen management higher priority

Allergens have become by far the leading cause of recalls. Mostly because the information on the label does not match the content of the product. Differences between recipes and specifications and the exchange of labels and/or packaging are the main causes of this.

As a result, consumers do not know exactly where they stand and retailers are confronted with questions and risks of damage claims and recalls, and do not switch to mentioning cross-contamination on the label until the risks have been properly substantiated.
