Digitization in the raw materials trade

Digitization in the raw materials trade, Eurofins is happy to contribute its bitcoin to this.
The Nevedi & Committee network event was organized for the fourth time on 16 May this year. In Hall 4 in Rotterdam, more than 140 guests gathered to discuss the theme "Digitization in the commodity trade". Once again, Eurofins provided the sponsorship.

Digitization is a development that is gaining a great deal of ground in all its forms. The food and feed industry is also currently investigating where and how they can make use of digital information. One of the new technologies discussed is Blockchain.

The diversity of presentations and speakers gave a good picture of how various organizations are already making use of new digital developments. For example, the use of drones and smart glasses in the port for survey work. But also the digitization of documents needed for the shipping of raw materials, the so-called bill of lading, would yield an enormous profit.

There were differences of opinion among those present about the period in which digitization will take place. Digitization in the chain will be accompanied by increased costs and requirements. This would enable the Netherlands to price itself out of the market as an importer of raw materials. This showed that in complex trade flows, customization will continue to be necessary.

Eurofins keeps a close eye on this development. Our first steps towards digitization have already been made through our Eurofins Online (EOL) portal and our survey app. Are you already familiar with this? If not, we will be happy to inform you at Sales-Food-NL@eurofins.com
